Hehe, today (Fri 9 Dec 2011, around 6.14am) my rabbit, Snowy, has given birth to 5 little rabbit babies (don't really know what rabbit babies are called. Anyone?)!! YAAAY!
And it was kinda made me panicky for a while before and after that.
The thing was, I was awoken by my mom, telling me Snowy have been making a nest kind of thing ever since last night. That particular last night, around 11pm or 12am the next day, I forgot, I could not stop myself but worried about her digging inside her cage, which would not making any sense because there's nothing to dig for. So, kinda upset why I didn't know what was happening, I told my mom I'm gonna put some hay into her cage, because I kinda had an image of her will be in labor soon or something... (before she gave birth, I didn't know for sure she's carrying, so that where my stupidity goes...) So I put the hays into my shoebox, getting bitten while I tried to arrage it in her cage (ack!)... Maybe she's mad or something, she never bit me before... except when I really annoyed her, which is... almost never. Anyway.
Next day, after my mom told me about Snowy, I couldn't go back to sleep, even though I've set my alarm for 10am... (it's holiday, gee) So I went downstairs and straight away to see Snowy. What happen was she had made a HUGE nest or something like that inside her cage, and apparently some kinda went haywire outside, hays everywhere and all that... messy but I kinda get her idea of what she would like her nest to be. Well.
About 30 minutes later of wondering when she's gonna have the babies... I got bored, and my mom too. And my littlest sister, too (she's supposed to be on her way to school but she wanted to see it). So we went inside, after giving some pellets for Ribbit and Snowy (though she seemed uninterested in anything except building her nest)...
Not long after that, though, I should've stayed with Snowy nevertheless, but, well, we kinda missed the whole thing. The next thing we know after my mom said that something quivering inside the cage, was... 5 babies were born! Ya~y, and all. We got excited and I took some photos of them just after they were born and some a few hours after.
Hhh. My sister kinda got mad at me for missing the happening... whatever. I feel kinda disappointed, too. But what can I do, other than tend to Snowy for afterbirth process... So I read that I should keep her nourished and also enough water so that she won't be dehydrated. Me and my mom did our best and we hope she would just hurry feed the babies NOW! It's night time, after all...
Oh yeah, a few hours after the birth, Pia found that the babies were being surrounded(?) by ants, and that's why they won't stop moving, so I kinda move the babies (witnessed by Febby, Pia, and my mom) with care, please note. I wore a tebukuro and I didn't forget to put Snowy's scent onto the tebukuro by rubbing it onto Snowy's body, and put the babies (kya, the feeling of their skin... and all... XD kinda strange which makes me kinda... you know) into another shoebox, with some wood pieces (?) inside it. And we staaaared at them for a long while. Hehe, can't help them being so cute, and red.
Anyway, one of them always went out of the shoebox and my mom and sister kinda freaked about it... so I have to check on them quite frequently so that none of them outside the box.
Now, they are sleeping (perhaps, never knew what rabbits do when we didn't see them) with their mother outside... And I'm worried wether they will be cold or something... and wether Snowy has feed them or not... yet. Please, god, don't let them die on me!!!
I'll post the pictures later... I'm feeling sleepy now.
The next day after the birth:
The father ;D :
